The Hornblower Hybrid was featured in Workboat this month. The article discusses the current progress of the boat and some of the unique systems that it incorporates. The details of these systems and the method by which the vessel operates are provided by the included video.

I haven't really heard of hybrid boats before but it makes sense to develop gas and electric hybrid motors for them.

Hybrid boats? That sounds like a pretty smart idea, you would think it would be pretty easy to utilized solar power for a boat as well. I wonder if the technology will eventually be picked up and used in commercial cruise ships.

I know some of these boats used gas turbine engines which proved to be more effiecent than the typical gas piston engines. A hybrid system may be just the innovation that this industry needs to rejuvenate itself.

The problem with these systems tend to be the batteries. While lithiom ion batteries offer the best power to weight ratios, they have proved to be somewhat unstable and prone to fires if overheated. This would be a major problem on a boat.

Hi there.
Is this boat safe enough? Don't want it to go the way Spanish ship did a week ago. I'm not going to set my foot on the deck of the Titanic.
